Ondine Ensemble

The Ondine Chamber Ensemble was founded in 1988 by cellist Kathleen Hood. A professional musician for over 30 years, she has been a member of the Long Beach Symphony since 1980. She has a B.A. in music performance from UCLA, and she has also has received a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from UCLA in ethnomusicology. She
has performed in a wide variety of contexts, including various professional orchestras, chamber music, and film soundtracks. In particular, her solo cello playing can be heard on the soundtrack of the movie, Suture. The other performers are all highly accomplished professional musicians working in the recording studios and orchestras in the greater Los Angeles area.

The Ondine Chamber Ensemble performs background music for any occasion. Each performance is tailored to your needs. They specialize in classical music, but our repertoire includes jazz standards and other popular music selections. Please contact us for a complete list. Demos can be heard below on this page. The group’s formation generally ranges from a solo performer to a quintet, and vocalists, harpists, and trumpet players are available upon request.

If you would like to book this ensemble, the leader, Kathleen Hood, will discuss all the details with you beforehand and then quote a price. She will then mail a contract to be signed and returned with a non-refundable $100 deposit to hold the date. You may also pay the deposit on this website via PayPal by clicking the button below.
